A website you update yourself.

A smith forges each sword for the knight who will carry it. We make each site the same way: for you.

We design the site with you and build it. Then you get Studio, an editor that opens in the browser: you change the text and pictures, watch the page update next to them, and press Publish. If you need a new kind of page or a new feature, ask us and we build it.

By invitation. Made for artists and anyone who shows their work online.

A short recording of Studio: a line of text is edited, the preview updates, and the change is published and goes live.
Studio: the files of an artist's site, the text of one work, and the page as visitors see it
Files

Every page, picture and setting of the site, in folders. To add a picture, drag it onto a folder.

Text

The text of the page you opened, with pictures and video where you put them.

Preview

The real page at computer or phone width. It updates while you type.

This is Studio.

You get it with your site. It runs in the browser, on a computer or a phone, and it opens only your site.

Your edits stay in your browser until you press Publish. Before anything goes live, Studio lists every file that will change, and you can undo any of them.

What you do yourself, and what you ask us for

You change it yourself

  • Text on any page
  • Pictures, galleries and video
  • New entries: a new work, post or page in a section the site already has
  • Site settings: name, links, contacts

Press Publish and it goes live. Publish as often as you like; nobody has to sign it off.

Studio's Publish panel: live on your site, took 47 seconds

You ask, we build it

  • New kinds of pages or blocks
  • Changes to the design
  • Features the site does not have yet
  • Fixes when something breaks

You write a request in Studio. We talk it through with you, build it, and show it to you on a preview before it goes live. New work may cost extra, and you know the price before we start.

How it works

1

We design and build the site.

You tell us what you do and what the site needs. We draw every page first and show it to you. We start on the code only after you say yes.

2

You get Studio.

We send you an invite link, and you make an account with your own email and password. From then on you add new work, fix typos and swap pictures yourself.

3

You ask for more when you need it.

For a new section or a change to the design, write a request in Studio. You see the result on a preview, and it goes live once you are happy with it.

The site belongs to you.

Studio only writes to your repository. If Kuznya disappeared, your repository, hosting and domain would keep working without it.

Your own Git repository.

The site's code and content sit in a Git repository of their own. Each publish is a commit there, so any earlier version can be brought back.

Your Cloudflare, your domain.

Cloudflare serves the site from your account, on your domain. We set it up for you, or show you how to do it yourself. Hosting a static site there is free.

Plain HTML pages.

Every page is built ahead of time as a static file. It loads fast, and there is no server or database for anyone to keep running.

Nothing ties you to us.

If Kuznya stops, your site stays online and still builds. Its content is text files and pictures that any developer can edit.

FAQ

Your question is not here? Write to hello@kuznya.dev.

Do I need to know how to code?
No. You edit text and pictures in Studio with your page shown next to them. Before you publish, Studio lists every file that will change.
What can I change myself, and what do I ask for?
Text, pictures, video, new entries and site settings you change yourself. New kinds of pages or blocks, design changes, new features and fixes go through a request in Studio.
What does it cost?
We agree the price with each client before we start, because every site is different. New features you ask for later may cost extra, and you hear the price first. Hosting a static site on Cloudflare is free. The domain is paid to its registrar once a year.
Can you build something the site does not do yet?
Yes. Tell us what you need, and we work out together how it would work, how long it takes and what it costs. We start only once you agree.
Who sets up the hosting and the domain?
We can do all of it for you: the repository, Cloudflare, the domain and publishing. Or we walk you through it, and you set it up in your own accounts.
Who writes the text?
You do. We build the site and help move over what you already have, but the words on it are yours.
How fast does a change go live?
Usually about a minute after you press Publish, and Studio shows the build while it runs. If a build fails, the live site stays as it was, Studio tells you, and we get a notice too.
What happens if Kuznya shuts down?
Your site stays online and keeps building from its repository. Its content is text files and pictures, which you or any developer can edit by hand.
Can my site be in another language?
Yes, in any language, or in several with a switch between them, like this page. Studio itself is only in English for now.
How do I get an account?
By invitation. We send you a link, and you sign up with your own email and a password.

Kuznya works by invitation.

Tell us what you make and send a link to where your work is now: a portfolio, ArtStation or Instagram. We reply within 2 working days. If we are a good fit, we send you an invite.
